In Principle of Future Studies, chapter 1 explores the concept, history, and
characteristics of futurologyand of futures studies in South Koreato raise
readers’ understanding for futurology. Chapter 2 covers some of the
successes and failures of future prediction and strategies, including cases
from China, and the future predictions of former UK Prime Minister Winston
Churchill, which will help readers understand the necessity and importance
of futurology. Chapter 3 introduces the characteristics of the five major
schools in futurology and the respective scholars in each school. Chapter 4 2020-08-26
discusses the future prediction research framework, types, and
classifications of future prediction methodologies, which will help in the
understanding of the research process involved in future prediction.
Chapter 5 explains in detail the twelve methodologies of future prediction
for the practical application of future prediction methodologies. Chapter 6
contains future studies performed using future prediction methodologies
and the processes in which future strategies are developed.
Chapter 7 introduces future strategic organizations in major developed countries including the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Singapore. It describes specific cases from Finland where future strategies are driven by the legislative branch, and from Germany where national future strategic organizations have been built based on a socially interactive model.
Chapter 8 discusses what to study and where, in terms of futurology. It talks about the curriculum of futurology and skillsets that
can be cultivated through the discipline as well as introduces international universities that offer regular degree courses and
training courses for futurists.
Chapter 9 discusses the importance of ethics and the status in future studies. In this chapter, eight sci-fi films provide an
interesting take on ethical activities with regard to future studies in the US, the EU, and Korea, and the importance of ethics.
Chapter 10 touches upon the ten megatrends of futurology and future studies. Chapter 11 explains the concepts behind the key
terms used in futurology and future studies. And chapter 12 includes conversations with renowned futurology scholars such as

Professor Jong-BaeAhn is a pioneer in futurology and digital marketing in South Korea.
As Chairman of the Global FuturesStudies Association, Professor Ahn has been working with the National Assembly’s Future Policy Research Group to propose the Framework Act on National Future, which will be the cornerstone in future studies and futurology in South Korea.
Ahn studied at Seoul National University, and Yonsei University, Kyonggi University and Michigan State Unversity. Professor Ahn received the first digital marketing PhD in Korea.
Professor Ahn received Prime Minister Awardfor his academicachievements and social contribution. Ahn is now Professor at Hansei University in korea. ProfessorAhn has written a number of future books, such as The Korea Future Report, The Global Future 2030and Future Education Report.
